Click here for the main League of Shirts page See also Season 2010, Season 2011 The first season of the Summer League of Shirts lasted just three weeks, but got things off to a thrilling start. The League is based on some very simple rules. Points are awarded for each shirt of a football team observed during a stay in an Italian resort at some time during the summer months. One shirt, one point. Unofficial gear is excluded. National team shirts don't count - that would be very tedious. Anything unrecognisable (after reasonable efforts to identify it) is ruled out. This year saw a concentration around Barcelona and Chelsea, reflecting in part the clientelle of the resort, and in part the reach of the brands. We saw surprisingly few Italian shirts - but this might reflect the lower social acceptability in Italy of wearing team shirts in public, as part of the wider dress code, unless going to a game. The final league table for the 2009 season is shown below. |
